Stryker Releases Pangea Plating System in Europe

Stryker has launched its Pangea plating system in Europe. The plating platform was designed to treat a wide range of fracture patterns.

The first clinical case using the Pangea system was also completed in Europe. Prof. Alex Tropeter, design surgeon and orthopedic trauma surgeon, with his team at St. George’s University Hospital in London, also completed the first clinical case in Europe.

The devices are non-active implants engineered to provide temporary stabilization for bones or bone fragments. The system features plates and complementary instruments to support plate fit and offer surgeons options for fracture fixation in the upper and lower extremities.

“Pangea was developed with a clear goal in mind: supporting anatomical fit while maintaining simplicity in the operating room,” said Prof. Trompeter. “The system brings together thoughtfully designed plates and a streamlined instrumentation set, giving surgeons practical options when treating a range of fractures.”

The Pangea portfolio was developed in partnership with 26 orthopedic surgeons from around the world. It incorporates global anatomical data to support plate fit for diverse populations of patients. The platform also offers variable-angle plating designed for flexibility in placing screws.

The company released the Pangea system in the U.S. in August 2024.
